Mesothelioma is a cancer in the lining of certain organs, it is often caused by asbestos.
The UK has the highest number of cases with over 2700 cases diagnosed each year. Spain has a lower rate with just 0.35 cases per 100.000 inhabitants.
However, mesothelioma can develop 20 years or more after exposure to asbestos, so, even if you are now in Spain, if you lived in the UK in the past you do have a higher risk factor.
Some of the symptoms to look out for are:
Chest Pain
Shortness of breath
Unexplained fatigue
High temperature and night sweats
Persistent coughing
Unexplained loss of appetite and weight loss.
Tummy pain or swelling
Nausea and sickness
Changes in bowel habits.

If you have any of these symptoms see a doctor, especially if you know that you have been exposed to asbestos.
