Since 2016 Anita Vince and friends have walked the GR221 during the Easter period to raise money for Cancer Support Mallorca.

Last year they had decided to move the walk to Menorca and walk the GR223, also known as the Camí de Cavalls. But, to involve more people in the getting fit and fundraising, Anita had also planned a month long event that anyone could sign up to, in which they would commit to covering a certain amount of steps every day. At the end of the month this would total the equivalent of having walked the whole GR221. There were to be different events at the start of the end of the month and lots of fun in between.

Sadly Covid 19 put a stop to both plans. While it is still uncertain if the Menorca Walk will be able to take place this year, we are happy to announce that we will be going ahead with a scaled down version of the Walk the GR221 in April.

Anyone can take part, the main aim is to get people out there walking and active, which is so much easier when you have a set goal and know others are taking part.

Everyone who signs up will receive a t-shirt, a bag and a fundraising sponsorship kit. This will cost €10.

Participants will be able to collect the kits from various venues over the island.

While there will be no official start or end events, Covid allowing, we will hold an event in September and all those who participated will be welcome to attend.

Anyone taking part will also be invited to join a Facebook page where they can talk to other participants, sharing encouragement, tips and photos.
